Lunar Dust Dice

The Apollo Space Program is the realization of JFK’s bold dream to send a man to the Moon and bring him back safe and sound before disco took over the world in 70s. NASA took JFK’s challenge head on in an interstellar saga featured a series of space escapades from Apollo 1 to Apollo 17, taking us on a wild ride from 1969 to 1972.

Picture this: Apollo 11, the rockstar mission led by space legends Neil Armstrong, Buzz Aldrin, and Michael Collins, pulls off the historic stunt of touching down on the Moon’s surface on July 20, 1969. Armstrong’s legendary line, “That’s one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind,” becomes the ultimate mic drop of the Cold War, but it could have been comedic genius if Michael Collins had his way, famously telling Neil, “If you had any balls, you’d say ‘Oh, my God, what is that thing?’ then scream and cut your mic.”

Leaving an everlasting mark on the humanity’s highlight reel, the follow-up Apollo missions were like sequels on steroids, breaking scientific ground, rolling out lunar rovers like interplanetary hotrods, even overcoming the monumental odds of “Houston, we have a problem” all while uncovering the Moon’s geologic secrets and nabbing 842lbs of moon rocks.

That amazing adventure though has absolutely nothing to do with our lunar dice. Not one grain of dust in these dice came from the Apollo program. That would be highly illegal as every grain of the Apollo moon rocks are property of the U.S. Government. No, the lunar dust used in the creation of these twenty sided wonders predates the U.S.A. by some few million years as this material was obtained from lunar meteorites. Hunks of rock blasted off the surface of the moon and hurtled through space to impact the surface of the earth, all in a billion year long cosmic plan to create some of the most epic dice to ever be created, a 3/4 inch in diameter master peice of American excellence. Why 3/4 of an inch? Because millimeters didn’t put a man on the moon that’s why.
