A wonderfully transparent stone of myth and legend.
Chemically, Ulexite is made up of a base of Sodium and Calcium metals. Then the crystalline fiber optic framework is made of oxygen and boron. The crystals contain a significant amount of trapped water molecules, which is why the stone is relatively soft and somewhat sensitive to moisture.
Structurally, Ulexite forms solid, tightly packed parallel crystal fibers. The famous “TV stone” effect happens because these parallel fibers act exactly like man-made optical fibers. Those crystalline fibers trap light and reflect it internally from the bottom of the stone straight up to the top surface without letting it scatter.
We etch each frosted white fiber optic d20 with crisp white numbers. Roll it across your dungeon map, your character sheet, or your favorite piece of art, and watch the details appear beneath your fingertips. Be gentile. Ulexite is soft for a stone, so roll it in a padded rolling tray or on a felt mat instead of a hard countertop, and keep it dry as the minerals that make up the crystalline structure are water soluble over time.
