Caddilite Dice

The Cadillac Ranch is one of America’s most famous public art installations. This eccentric automotive garden features ten vintage Cadillac automobiles buried nose-first in the West Texas dirt baking under a treeless sky on the windswept plains of the panhandle. Tilted at the exact angle of the pyramids at Giza and completely covered in countless layers of brightly colored graffiti has become an icon of the old Route 66. The Cadillac Ranch was created in June of 1974 by an eclectic group of artists called the Ant Farm who were funded by Stanley Marsh the 3rd, an Amarillo oil tycoon known as a philanthropist with a penchant for the mischievous and a bit of a prankster.

Soon after their initial planting the Caddy’s started getting spray bombed by graffiti artists and passersby.  Today it’s encouraged and the owners of The Cadillac Ranch have even posted official rules for painting these iconic old cars. With an estimated 2 million people visiting this landmark every year the layers of artwork build quickly and has become a must-see attraction in Amarillo. If you ever find yourself on this lonely stretch of the former route 66, we highly recommended stopping by and adding your own flair to this long running community art project.

Every now and then some of these layers of graffiti break away from the Cadillacs. We take these layers of graffiti and turn them in to functional works of art. The rainbow of Damascus patterns laid down in thousands of layers over many many years make each die totally unique. Every face has been engraved in a font we based off the original Cadillac logo, then hand inked in Black 4.0 the blackest black to ever black.
