Description
Acrylic, or poly(methyl methacrylate), was invented in 1928 and first marketed in 1933 as safety glass thanks to its shatter resistant nature. Since its inception Methacrylate has been synthesized in about a dozen different methods leading to twice that many trademarked names for poly(methyl methacrylate). Names like Lucite, Plexiglass, ACRYLITE, and Perspex are all essentially the exact same thing with some very minor differences due in part to how the methacrylate was produced. The PMMA we use in crafting our Alchemist’s Dice is manufactured by Lucite.

Acrylics are used in many applications from aquariums, to helmet visors, and even bulletproof body panels for armored vehicle. It’s also used for aircraft canopies and in making ballistic glass. Depending on the application, acrylic is either produced in a casting process or it is extruded, as is the case with the acrylic beads used in injection molding. We chose cast acrylic rod as our base material over, the much less expensive, extruded acrylic as the casting process gives us a significantly increased optical clarity.
Each of our Acrylic dice are individually machined and the polished in 5 stages to bring back the optimal clarity and luster inherent to cast acrylic. This process is labor intensive but as you can see in the image to the right, it produces far superior results to injection molded acrylic dice.
PLEASE NOTE: We no longer use laser cut acrylic boxes, all of our dice have been upgraded to include our standard box as chosen above.

I got the Windu 1d20. Took a while for it to come in (over a month), but it sure is beautiful. I was not aware about this, but these dice are NOT inked. Not complaining, just wish I was more aware of this fact.
I used the ‘white crayon’ method described online to fill in the numbers. The die looks and functions beautifully. Kept it in a pocket with keys once and it scratched, so please be aware of that and keep your dice safe.
I like the d20 so much that I’m going to buy the full polyhedrial set and a high quality pouch to keep them in. I recommend it to any serious gamers.

I left a review previously talking about the D20 and mentioned that I planned to buy a full set of the Dice. I did end up buying the full set of dice along with four Fudge/Fate dice. The full set came with 1 of each dice except the D6, there were 4 D6 included in the set. The set is beautifully crafted, and the polish is almost glass-like. I used the Crayon method to ‘ink’ the numbers a solid white and they look astonishing.
I have had these dice for some time now, and the thing that reminded me of them is that my D20 was lost to me for almost two weeks. We heard a rattling noise in the Dryer, and after a few days we investigated and found the D20. All of the wax from the Crayon ‘inking’ melted away and the D20 was very clean without a single dent or scratch. I was pretty impressed, and here I am writing a review on the entire set.
As any hand-made material, they have slight imperfections especially around the corners of the dice. It’s hard to notice at a glance, but some corners were more rounded than others. Some hardcore gamers would find that this makes the rolls not perfectly balanced. I have been playing with these dice for a while and have not noticed that these dice are more or less ‘lucky’ than other dice, and are perfectly random enough for what I use them for.
Another downside to these dice is the fact that the number placements are non-standard for some of the dice. Hardcore fans know that this means that a player can roll the Dice in a specific way that gives them better odds at higher or lower numbers. This is very apparent on the Fudge/FATE style dice. This essentially allows a player to get a very slight advantage over the standard dice by rolling the dice a specific way. This is not an issue when playing with players who are trustworthy or using a dice boot/tower to roll the dice.
Overall a great purchase. I would rate the entire set a 9/10 and recommend them to any player who wants a beautiful and incredibly durable set of dice. However, I do not recommend these dice to anyone who is picky on number placements or sharp corners on their dice.

I was skeptical about the reviews and wait times on these dice so I ordered a d20 windu to satisfy my curiosity and I was not disappointed at all. It is truly clear, the pictures do it justice. The edges are nice and sharp, the numbers are beautiful and it just feels and rolls nicer than a rounded dice. I’m going to order different polyhedrals in different colors over time because it would just look like a bag of assorted cut gems. Excellent work can’t wait to place another order.
Side note I asked customer service (on more than one occasion because I’m impatient) about the status on the order and they responded quickly and nicely which is a huge plus for me.
