Kentucky Coffee

Kentucky Coffee is the state tree of Kentucky. It got its name because its seeds were roasted and used and a substitute for coffee beans. This tree gets to be as tall as 70 feet and has a beautiful orange to reddish brown Heartwood with a generally straight grain pattern. The beans also saw use as a general food source for native tribes: the Meskwaki, Ho-Chunk, and Pawnee Tribes.
